NORTHLAKE — Two men have been accused of trying to stab a man to death on April 25.
Alejandro Muniz, 20, of the 2200 block of North Mannheim Road, Melrose Park, and Juan C. Muniz, 24, of the 300 block of East Palmer Avenue, Northlake are each charged with attempted murder, aggravated battery and vehicular invasion.
Police responded to a call of a fight in progress at a Shell gasoline station, 2201 Mannheim Rd., at 11:23 a.m. April 25. Two men entered a green car and attacked a man, stabbing him in the back and arm. The two fled before police arrived.
“It was a verbal altercation that turned physical when one of the offenders called for back-up,” Commander Jay Militello said. “It appears there is some gang motivation behind it.”
Police arrested Alejandro Muniz at 7 p.m. April 25 and Juan Muniz the next day at 10 p.m. Alejandro was held against a bond of $750,000. Juan Muniz was scheduled for bond court the afternoon of April 30.
The victim was taken to Loyola Hospital in Maywood and operated on. He was still in the hospital on April 30.
